When Arsi meets her Dadi
(2021-ongoing)

“Dadi”, meaning paternal grandmother in Bengali, is what Arshia, my niece, calls my mother.

Arshi, my delightful four-year-old niece, affectionately addresses my mother as Dadi. Ever since my father's absence, Arshi has brought abundant joy into our lives. She has become a source of companionship for my mother, and together, they have formed a heartwarming bond. Regularly, my mother takes care of Arshi, applying oil to her hair with love and care. As I observe the passage of time, I notice a charming transformation in my mother – the older she gets, the more she embodies a childlike spirit akin to Arshi. Witnessing their playful moments never fails to astonish me. These simple acts of love and understanding serve as a poignant reminder that home transcends physical spaces; it is an emotional connection between individuals.
